Host a memorial wall

A wall for the families you have already helped through the worst day.

Every practice has the same conversation, over and over, and then the family goes home and there is nothing. No place the animal is still named. Nothing to come back to.

A Tribute Tiles wall is that place. Each pet gets a portrait in watercolour and ink, printed on matte photo paper and mounted on a light 8″ board with clean black edges, with a small code in the corner. Scanning it opens their page — their name, their years, a line the family wrote, and room for anyone who knew them to leave a memory.

The page is permanent. It does not expire, it costs the family nothing, and it is never taken down.

How the portraits are made

We should be straightforward about this, because you will be asked.

Each portrait is generated by AI, working to a prompt we wrote ourselves and have rewritten many times over — it sets the watercolour-and-ink style, the ivory ground, the gold keyline, where the name sits. The likeness comes from the family's own photographs of their dog.

Then a person looks at it. Every single one. We have been grooming dogs in Boston since 2008, and we know what a family means when they say the ears aren't right, or that isn't her face. A portrait that isn't recognisably them is worth nothing, however handsome it is, and those go back and get made again.

So: made with a tool, judged by people who have spent seventeen years looking at dogs. We would rather tell you that plainly than have a client work it out and wonder what else we were vague about.

There is no subscription and no renewal. The pages we make for your families stay up whether or not you ever order another tile — that promise is made to them, not to you, and we will not break it.

Nothing goes through your wall

Tiles hang on a repositionable adhesive backing. No nails, no screws, no fixings, no holes — which matters if you lease your space, and matters again the first time you want to move the whole arrangement six inches to the left.

They are light, and there is no glass in them. In a waiting room with children and frightened animals in it, that is not a small thing.

A wall also does not need to arrive finished. Most start with a dozen and grow along one line, which is how they end up looking like something that accumulated rather than something that was installed.

Is a wall right for you?

Before anything else, the honest version. A wall is not right for every business, and it is worse than useless in the wrong lobby.

It works when

You are already with families at the end — you are the one who makes the call, or the one they come to afterwards.
You have a wall people stand in front of. A waiting room, a checkout, a hallway they pass twice a visit.
You lose somewhere between one and five a month. Fewer and the wall grows too slowly to feel alive; many more and you will want the fifty.
One person on your team is willing to own it — sending a photograph and a name, a few minutes a month.

It probably doesn't when

You want it to generate revenue. It does not. Nothing is sold off your wall and no money passes through you.
Nobody has a spare four feet of wall. A tile wall in a stairwell is a wall nobody reads.
Your clients are largely one-visit. The wall works on recognition — people finding a dog they knew.
You would need approval from a corporate office to hang anything. Get that first; then talk to us.

A wall that passes fifty is doing something right, and we would rather talk about the next fifty than sell you a package you may not need. Our own wall in Boston is past fifty and heading for a hundred — when yours gets there, write to us.

Founding walls

The first three practices to host a wall pay $995 for twenty tiles, in exchange for letting us photograph the wall and name you as a reference. We would rather have three walls we can show people than a discount policy.

There is one wall today, in our own shop in Boston, and you can go and look at it on the map. We would rather tell you that than imply something larger than what exists. If you host the second one, you will be early, and we will treat you that way.
